The future of therapy, EMDR?

The world faces humanitarian crises with significant challenges including mental health burdens. The project aims to train mental health professionals in using digital technology to enhance services, making them more accessible and affordable, especially for crisis-affected individuals. This approach is expected to improve service quality, reduce workloads, and ultimately contribute to a healthier society.
The initial target group of our project is mental health professionals. We aim to reach psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental professionals and increase their capacity to incorporate digital methods into their practices.
The DETAM (Digital EMDR Training and Awareness for Mental Health Providers) project, co-funded by the EU, explored how EMDR therapists are integrating digital tools into their practice. Conducted across Germany, the Netherlands, and Turkey, the project surveyed 53 certified EMDR professionals to assess their digital readiness and usage of online therapy modalities.
DETAM demonstrates that while EMDR therapists are ready for digital transformation, further support is needed to fully integrate digital tools into routine practice. The project lays the groundwork for future innovation in trauma-focused therapy across Europe.

DETAM Project aims to address the identified needs of the target groups, which are mental health providers who need to improve their digital awareness in EMDR treatment, by providing digital awareness raising for psychologists in EMDR treatment with application.
The project’s vision is to equip mental health professionals with digital skills, integrate technology into therapy, and increase accessibility to high-quality mental health support.
By partnering with mental health professionals and introducing digital applications to their practice, the project aims to unlock the potential of technology to enhance the quality and reach of mental health services.
